The fine print, in plain words.
If something here does not answer your question, write to information@thepeakcolorado.com.
- Where does the data come from?
- Pass and road status come from CDOT COTrip. Snow depth and new snow come from SNOTEL sites. Forecasts and observations come from the National Weather Service. River flow and water temperature come from USGS and Colorado Division of Water Resources gauges. The river scores are calculated by The Peak Colorado from those readings.
- How often does it update?
- The feed refreshes once each morning on a schedule, and each card shows the time of its last update. We do not promise a specific minute, because the readings depend on public sources and scheduled jobs that occasionally run late. When data is older than a few hours the card shows Updated with the time rather than presenting it as current.
- How do I install it?
- Your embed code is sent when your trial starts. It is a short tag and one script that you paste into your page, the same way you would add a map or a booking button, and it works on most website builders that accept custom HTML. During the trial we help you choose the cards and the placement.
- What is the difference between Basic and Branded?
- Basic is $9 a month for one website. You choose the rivers and passes, and the card carries a small "via The Peak Colorado" credit. Branded is $49 a month for unlimited websites and pages, with your own set of rivers and passes and priority setup help. Your logo and colors on the card, with no Peak Colorado credit, are coming soon.
- How does billing work, and can I cancel?
- Basic and Branded are billed month to month, and you can cancel anytime with an email to information@thepeakcolorado.com. There is no contract. When a plan ends, the card comes off your site.
- What does the free trial include?
- Both plans start with a free 30-day trial that needs no card, because there is no checkout. After that, Basic is $9 a month and Branded is $49 a month, month to month, and you can cancel anytime by email. You get the card for your plan set up on your own site, with our help on placement. Near the end of the trial we will ask whether you want to continue on a plan or remove the card.
- How accurate is it, and what are the limits?
- The card reports what the public sources report, as of the time shown. Gauges go offline, SNOTEL sites sometimes miss a reading, and mountain roads can close within the hour. The widget is a planning aid, not a safety service, and it does not guarantee that a road is open or that a river will fish well. Drivers should check cotrip.org or call 511 before leaving, and anglers should check Colorado Parks and Wildlife for current regulations.
See it on your own site before the first big storm.
Tell us about your business and pick a plan, and we will set up a card that fits the way your guests and customers plan their trips. The trial is free for 30 days. No card needed.
